Overview
Aqua Vitae brings a warmer, sunlit mood to the Aqua collection, combining citrus freshness with a soft woody character.
A trip to Formentera inspired Francis Kurkdjian’s 2013 fragrance. Its Mediterranean setting gives the perfume a different starting point from the clean-linen idea of Aqua Universalis: this is freshness with warmth underneath.
The original is an Eau de Toilette in the house’s clear square bottle. Aqua Vitae Forte and Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte came later and develop the theme in different directions. When comparing samples, the concentration and full name are worth checking.

Freshness with some warmth underneath
Aqua Vitae is an interesting option if you like citrus but find very sharp colognes a little cold. The soft sweetness and woody background give the fresh idea a rounder, more comfortable feel.
That can also make it less refreshing than you hoped if your ideal citrus scent is crisp and unsweetened. It is a question of balance, rather than quality. Compare it with the original Aqua Universalis to decide whether you prefer clean-linen freshness or this warmer direction.
