Overview
Joy by Dior was conceived as a fragrance about light and happiness.
François Demachy created the 2018 Eau de Parfum, giving it a bright floral character with a soft, polished finish. Jennifer Lawrence fronted its launch, and the simple pink-filled bottle kept the presentation clear and contemporary.
Demachy compared the idea to a pointillist painting: many small details combining into a readable whole. This is Dior’s Joy, distinct from the historic Jean Patou perfume with the same name. It is also separate from Joy by Dior Intense, the later interpretation in the Dior line.

For a soft floral rather than a statement scent
Joy by Dior is worth considering if you want a floral that feels smooth and easy to understand. Its familiar style may be a plus for everyday use, but less exciting if you are looking for something unexpected. Compare it on skin with other soft florals at a similar price; the right fit matters more than the launch story.
