Overview
Tam Dao Eau de Parfum is Diptyque’s warm, contemplative portrait of sandalwood. Introduced in 2013, this version explores the creamy side of wood with a restrained spicy edge.
Like Do Son, it comes from co-founder Yves Coueslant’s memories of Vietnam. Here the memory is of forests and the scent of sandalwood burned in temples. That personal connection gives Tam Dao a clear sense of place and makes wood the subject of the fragrance.
Cedar and cypress add definition around the softer sandalwood, while coriander brings contrast. The character is focused and woody, with little emphasis on a sweet fruit or floral effect. In the Eau de Parfum, Diptyque gives the spices a particular role in bringing out the sandalwood’s warmth and milky texture.

One to try if you love woody scents
Tam Dao Eau de Parfum puts creamy woods at the centre, with a little spice around them. If that sounds like your kind of fragrance, it’s worth a sample. You don’t need to be able to name every ingredient to know whether you enjoy this style.
If you want lots of sweetness, fruit or flowers, it may not be what you’re looking for. The appeal is its focus on wood. Decide whether that feels comforting and interesting to you, or whether you’d rather have more going on.
