Overview
Ciel de Gum is a warm floral amber created for Moscow’s GUM department store, with the dressed-up character of an occasion fragrance.
It marked the store’s 120th anniversary in 2013 and launched as a GUM exclusive. The house described it through the idea of evening clothes and haute couture, with a composition intended for both women and men.
The Eau de Parfum belongs to Kurkdjian’s retailer-exclusive work, alongside fragrances such as Bergdorf Goodman’s 754. Where 754 takes a fresh, green direction, Ciel de Gum offers a richer, spiced warmth.

Rich warmth, with sweetness to consider
Ciel de Gum is worth seeking a sample of if you enjoy a sweet, spicy amber with flowers still clearly part of the picture. Its appeal is that dressed-up warmth rather than an airy, barely-there effect.
If cinnamon, vanilla and rich florals often feel too much together, this may be a poor fit. The exclusive history can make the hunt tempting, but it is better approached as a particular style you already enjoy than as a trophy bottle.
