Overview
Oud Velvet Mood is the spicy, deeply resinous interpretation in the original trio of fabric-inspired Oud Mood perfumes.
Francis Kurkdjian introduced it in 2013 with Silk Mood and Cashmere Mood. Velvet was conceived around an enveloping texture, following the house’s first Oud Eau de Parfum from the previous year.
This is the original Extrait de Parfum. Among the three, its concentrated combination of oud, spice and balsam gives it a particularly assertive identity.

A bold choice that deserves a test first
Velvet Mood is a candidate for someone who actively enjoys powerful woody, resinous fragrances. The spice gives the warmth a sharper edge, so the appeal is more intense than a soft vanilla amber.
The ratings are visibly divided, which is useful information rather than something to ignore. If medicinal, leathery or very dense perfumes put you off, this is a risky purchase. A small sample is a better starting point than assuming an expensive extract must be smooth and easy.
