Overview
Cologne Pour Le Soir gives cologne an unexpected evening character: warm, honeyed and gently smoky rather than bright and bracing.
Created by Francis Kurkdjian in 2009 as the companion to Cologne Pour Le Matin, it explored the comforting end of the day. The launch imagery evoked cashmere and leather, using texture and mood to describe the fragrance instead of the familiar splash of citrus associated with cologne.
This is the original Eau de Cologne, presented in the tall bottle with amber-coloured liquid. Absolue Pour Le Soir is a separate, more intense composition; the shared name does not make them the same perfume.

Warmth with a less predictable edge
Do not let the word cologne make you expect a quick lemon-and-herbs refresh. Pour Le Soir has a honeyed, resinous warmth that makes much more sense as something soft to settle into.
Its less comfortable side is worth knowing about too. Some people find the opening musky and animalic, while others mainly notice the sweet, powdery warmth. That split makes a sample particularly useful. If you enjoy cosy amber scents but want something less straightforward, it is an interesting one to explore.
